Abstract
The theory of the Big Bang explains how rocks came into existence and the theory of evolution explains how a simple cell evolved into complex beings. But how do you go from the stuff that makes up rocks to the stuff that makes up us? I will attempt to demystify the processes and intermediary steps that connect rocks to humans and in doing so, maybe we can discuss what it really means to be alive.
