Abstract

The neutron is a strange beast. Although it is a well-known building block of everyday matter, there still are many mysteries surrounding even its most basic properties. One such mystery is the neutron lifetime, the amount of time alone neutron can survive outside of the protective shell of the nuclei of atoms. The best experiments have found large differences in the measured value of the lifetime, sparking controversy.
